About the COBF

The Colorado Bowfishing Association is the only organization in the state of Colorado that is specifically dedicated to protecting and fostering the challenging sport of bowfishing. From hosting tournaments and events, to working with the Division of Wildlife and other organizations, to introducing newcomers and the public to our sport; the COBF is dedicated to supporting bowfishing in an ethical, professional and coordinated manner.

The COBF grew out of a few individuals’ passion for the sport. We started by organizing a few formal tournaments in 2007 and as event participation and overall interest increased we saw our grass roots efforts take hold. In 2008, we presented an issue paper before the Colorado State Wildlife Commission to clarify vague wildlife regulations. The paper was approved and this resulted in a Division of Wildlife regulation change and the opening of 23 additional state properties for bowfishing.

After hearing from many people at events and witnessing firsthand how bowfishing is an important pursuit of many Colorado sportsmen, we decided to take the next step and formally organize the Colorado Bowfishing Association in 2009. Please join your fellow sportsmen and become a member of the COBF.
